Cast and Crew

  • Carys Mullins (She/They)

    DIRECTOR, PRODUCER, EDITOR

    Carys Mullins is a Humanity Rising leader, the director of You're Loved, and the founder of Advocates for LGBTQ Equality. She is passionate about human rights and believes in equality for all. Known in her community as a frequent volunteer of various LGBTQ-serving organizations such as St. Pete Pride and Equality Florida, she often joins volunteer leadership groups such as the PFLAG Youth Pride Prom Committee and the Tampa Bay Transgender Film Festival Screening Committee. Carys is also a mental health advocate who speaks on her experience as a survivor of Anorexia Nervosa, OCD, and depression.

  • Safara Malone (She/Her)

    CAST MEMBER

    Safara Malone is an incoming Freshman at Harvard College. She will be the first openly transgender Black woman to attend the University. Safara is part of a community advisory board for a research project building a trans-affirming sex education platform in partnership with the University of Washington. Additionally, through her work with GSA Network, she has spoken with the Huff Post, led national transgender justice events, and was featured in the Associated Press and the documentary “You’re Loved”.

    (At the time this film was made and distributed, Safara went by Topher).

  • Charlie Suor (He/Him)

    CAST MEMBER

    Charles “Charlie” Suor is a trans scholar, queer historian, and LGBTQ+ advocate. His work has touched on the overlaps of punk with transness, monster theory, and the formation of a transmasc identity. Currently, he is looking to combine history and queer theory to further his research into the connection of emo music and modern transmasc culture. His personal experiences as a transmasc individual influence his work and in turn his work influences his activism.
